Gen-G Movement Martyrs Cremated with National Honors at Pashupati

Families, Citizens Mourn at Aryaghat

Kathmandu: Those who lost their lives during the recent Gen-G movement were cremated with national honors on Tuesday. The funeral procession began from Maharajgunj Teaching Hospital and concluded at Pashupati Aryaghat, where the martyrs were laid to rest.

Four of the deceased were cremated at Pashupati amid emotional scenes. Families of the victims wept as the bodies were consigned to the flames, and a large crowd of relatives, friends, and citizens gathered to pay their final respects. Silence fell over Aryaghat as the cremations were performed, leaving many visibly emotional.

Government Grants Relief and Declares Mourning Day
A cabinet meeting held on Monday had decided to declare the deceased as martyrs, cremate them with national honors, and provide Rs. 1.5 million in relief to each bereaved family.

Additionally, the government declared Asoj 1 as National Mourning Day and announced a public holiday to honor those who sacrificed their lives during the movement.
